Visa is terminologically the official and legal authorization granting traveler access to the areas of a foreign country. Previously the visitors and traveler needed to get the visa approval through Indian high consulate situated in their vicinity. Now the government of india has started an e-Visa facility which enables the traveler belonging to a list of around 156 countries to apply for online visa. The e-Visa completely online process. The Soft copies of relevant documents need to be uploaded online in the application form and the visa approval documents are also emailed directly to the applicants. The traveler just have to take a printout of that evisa hard copy and carry of the visa approval documents at the time of journey for presenting it to the Immigration officers in India. Here we are trying to breakdown the whole visa application process into easy steps to help the online application make an informed decision.
Important Note:
It is most important to understand that once applicant application is initiated or submitted then you must not need to start or submit another application against the same passport number. Any and all subsequent applications shall be rejected by the Government of India due to redundancy/delicacy. It is strongly advised to finish and complete only one application form and not submit more than one application. Your visa will not be granted any other visa against the same passport until previous visa expired even if any details are incorrect in the visa. Once an application form is submitted or visa is granted against a passport, it cannot be cancelled or amended and refunded. Applicants are advised to be maximum careful about the details which is submitted in the application form and must review before finally submission and making the payment. It is strictly advised do not submit more than one application form at the same time and only the same application be completed. Who Can Apply e-Visa Online?
e-Visa has 5 sub-categories viz. e-Tourist Visa, e-Business Visa, e-Medical Visa, e-Medical Attendant Visa and e-Conference Visa.
- e-Tourist visa for India: -
e-Visa services are available to inhabitants of around 156 countries. The international traveler and applicants can check if their country's name appear in this updated list which is eligible for applying for e-Visa. The Pakistani origin tourists cannot apply for e-Visa facilities and need to apply directly through Indian embassies or high consulate in their area.

Step 2: Decide which type of e-Visa you need to apply for:
e-Visa has 5 sub-categories viz. e-Tourist Visa, e-Business Visa, e-Medical Visa, e-Medical Attendant Visa and e-Conference Visa.
- e-Tourist visa for India:-
- The foreigner whose purpose of visit is sightseeing, meeting relative familiarization or is recreation can apply e-Tourist visa. The applicants need to upload the copy of the front page of passports where the details are mention in passport to apply for e-Tourist visa for India as per the following travel plan:-
- One Month 30 days e-Tourist Visa Duration: One Month (30 Days) from the date of grant of ETA.
Entries:
Single Entry, non-extendable and non-convertible
(B)e-Medical visa for India: -This type of visa is issued to those who is coming for medical treatment purpose in India and maximum of two applicant attendants can apply with patient are also allowed entry. They need to apply individually as only one person is allowed per visa approval. Tourists applying for e-Tourist visa have to upload the copy of the front pages of their passport where the details are given and a copy of the approval of the Indian medical hospital where the patient are coming for treatment.
(c) e-Business visa for India:-applicant who is travelling to travel India for business purposes need to apply for e-Business visa and The documents required for e-Business visa is the copy of the front page of the passports where the details are mention as well as the copy of the business cards. Businessperson who are coming here to giving lectures or to attend meetings need to submit the invitation letter received from the Indian organization where applicant coming for meeting Note: The Invitations letter and other paperwork should to be submitted in English language only. Non compliance can lead to rejection of the application status.
Step 3: Ensure that you apply for e-Visa within the stipulated time frame: -After selecting type of eVisa the applicant wants to apply he or she can move forward for applying the eVisa. The applicants have to apply for e-Visas atleast 5 days before to the date of arrival in India.
Step 4: Check if the airport/seaport where you are landing in India has immigration facilities: -The Indian Government has provided for immigration facilities at almost all the airports as well as seaports of India.The International visitors need to verify if they are coming at these given airports/seaports.
